Are you Hit by Google Penguin Update | How to Recover from Google Penguin Update?

Recently, Google release another search engine update; Google Penguin which targets webspam.
In order to weed out spammy sites from search engine result pages, Google launched Penguin update worldwide including US, UK and Australia.

How to figure out that my website is hit by Google Penguin update?

1. Login to your Google Analytic Dashboard and check traffic drop after 25th April?
2. Google your most important keywords which are generating traffic and ranking highly in search engine result pages. If rankings are dropped to 2nd page, you're on Google Penguin Hit list.
What if my rankings and traffic increased after 25th April 2012:
You're lucky as Google is rewarding high quality sites 

Why it happened? What have I done?

Google always provide relevant search result to users. Some webmasters/companies follow black hat techniques such as keyword spamming, building links on same anchor text, high keyword density and others.
If you have done any of these then you are under Google Penguin Scanner.

  • Vary your anchor text distribution.
  • Make your content readable by human.
  • Add more pages to site that contains fresh & relevant content.
  • Go social: Add Google+ share button to your site. Create FB page and twitter handle and share your useful content.
